Durand Eastman Paintout (July 6)


A beautiful clear, mild evening at Durand Eastman Park on Lake Ontario,
followed by a lovely sunset. The following members painted on the beach:
Terry Brooks, Phyllis Bryce Ely, Barbara Muratore, Colette Savage (host),
Chris O'Handley, Kathy Hess, Gordon VanVliet and Barbara Jablonski.
Rona Poss and Marilyn Fienberg painted the sunset from the Eastman
Lake side.

   

   


Cobbs Hill  Paintout (July 1)

Brande Arno, Gordon VanVliet, Kath Hess, Barbara Muratore, Kim Schwind,
and Host Barbara Jablonski enjoyed cool breezes and sunny skys on top of
Rochester's Cobbs Hill on July 1.

   

   


Sunset Paintout at Ontario Beach (June 29)

Eleven members gathered at Ontario Beach in Rochester for an evening, or
sunset, paintout. Just as we arrived, a dying thunderstorm moved in from the
west, providing a fairly continuous but mostly light rain. The sun broke
through the clouds producing some beautiful colors and a rainbow to boot.
Some painted the boardwalk, some the vista, others the volleyball tournament.
But all painted the sunset.

In attendance were Brande Arno, Phil Bliss, Phyllis Bryce Ely, Stu Chait,
Barbara Jablonski, Lauretta Kirk, Barbara Muratore, Chris O'Handley, Nina
Rupp, Colette Savage, Kim Schwind and Gordon VanVliet.

   

   


Summer Solstice Paintout (June 21)

GVPAP members celebrated the summer solstice with an early morning
paintout on Salmon Creek in Hilton. The official start of summer, which
occurred at 8:36 am, found the following members painting: Mike Graves,
Kathleen Hanney, Stacey Kirby, Jeanette Muslinger, Christopher O'Handley,
and Colette Savage.

   


Maplewood Rose Garden Paintout (June 19)

Three artists made it to the Rose garden in Maplewood Park to take part
in today's paintout, which was postponed from yesterday (rain). They
enjoyed lovely weather, helpful gardeners, friendly children, and of
course, fabulous flowers. Members present were Barbara Muratore,
Jeanette Muslinger, and Colette Savage.

    


Onanda State Park Paintout (June 17)

A hot, steamy day with a gentle breeze made for a beautiful day at
Canandaigua and wonderful lake vistas. Folks painted vistas from
lakeside and up above.

Present were Stu Chait, Kathy Hess, Barbara Jablonski, Kim Schwind, Susie
Covert, Gail Kellogg, Mary Morgan and Barbara Doyle (HOST).

    

    


Brockport Paintout (June 13)

Folks were spread all over the Erie Canal/Brockport area for this
paintout. Some painting the village; others the water. Nice day; nice company.

In attendance: HOST Hiroko Battey, Phil Bliss, Kathy Bolin, Kathleen
Hanney, Barbara Jablonski, Gil Jordan, Bob Keim, Stacy Kirby, Barbara
Muratore, Chris O'Handley, Nina Rupp, Colette Savage and Elaine Vigoda.

    

    

Borglums Iris Farm Paintout (June 9)

Thunderstorms "did us in"... but not before we got beautiful paintings of
the Irises.  Acres and acres of irises, peonies and other flowers. Present
were Colette Savage, Nina Rupp, Claudine Bartlett, Brande Arno, Kim Schwind,
Kathy Bolin and Barbara Jablonski.

    

    

Keuka Lake Paintout (June 6)

We enjoyed coffee and lunch at the house of Dorothee Goldberg, the owner
of the Keuka Lake Winery which overlooked the Lake. Scenery was unbelievable.

Lucky artists included Kathy Bolin, Susie Covert, Barbara Doyle, Pamela
Drix, Marilyn Feinberg, Barbara Jablonski, Gil Jordan, Rona Poss, and
Kim Schwind.

    

Rochester Paintout (June 3)

Seven artists gathere in the Corn Hill section of Rochester to paint the
cityscape. The day was grey and cool, but the painting was good. In
attendance were Steve BonDurant, Susie Covert, Barbara Jablonski, Bobbi
Prince, Nina Rupp, Colette Savage, and Kim Schwind.

    

Point Breeze Paintout (May 30, 2006)

GVPAP hosted its first joint paintout with the Niagara Frontier Plein Air
Painters. In spite of the excessive heat, all painters enjoyed the Savage
Farm. We truly enjoyed meeting our new friends from the West and a full
day of painting.

Attending the paintout from GVPAP: HOST Colette Savage, Judy Soprano,
Patricia Burr, Barbara Jablonski, Jennifer Spaker, Barbara Muratore,
Lauretta Kirk,  Christopher O'Handley, and Chip Stevens. From NFPAP:
Jean MacDonald, Pat Sciandra, Paulette Jurek, Stacey Kirby, and Joan
Sutherland.

       

       

Lakeville Paintout (May 24, 2006)

Gorgeous day -- lake breezes, sun and great painting. Definitely a "must
do again" site. Attendees: HOST Bobbie Gradl, Sally Moses, Gil Jordan,
Mike Graves, Guy LeClaire, Gail Kellogg, Nina Rupp, Colette Savage.

   

   

Spencerport Paintout (May 19, 2006)  

It was a "Monet Day" - very cloudy but beautiful. Members enjoyed
meeting at the coffee shop and loved painting the various subject
matter of the historic village along the Erie Canal. One member not
to be named sold their completed, wet canvas right off the easel.
In attendance were Don Grieger, Don Cooney, Nina Rupp, HOST Kevin Feary,
Barbara Jablonski, Kathy Bolin, Colette Savage.  We forgot the camera.

Highland Park Paintout (May 10, 2006)

Another paintout in beautiful Highland Park in the city of Rochester.
A spectacular day, 78 deg and sunny. The magnolias, lilacs and tulips
put on a wonderful display. Attendees included Kathleen Hanney, Stephanie
Kelly, Mary Morgan, Sally Moses, Jeannette Muslinger,Barbara Muratore,
Bobbi Gradl, Gail Kellogg, Barbara Jablonski, Claudine Bartlett,
Kim Schwind and HOST Jennifer Spaker.

Note, the first picture below (of Barbara Muratore) appeared in the
Democrat and Chronicle as part of their story about the upcoming
Lilac Festival in Highland Park. The photo was taken by D&C staff
photographer Will Yurman.

   

   

Highland Park Paintout (May 3, 2006)

Today's paintout included Nina Rupp, Elaine Vigoda, Phyllis Bryce Ely,
Barbara Muratore and host Colette Savage. Highland park was beautiful, and
the magnolias were in full bloom.

   

Ontario Paintout (April 28, 2006)

We had a full day's paintout at Anne Jurgens homestead. She has a vineyard
and apple orchard.  There were about 15 acres to paint. Several of us went
down the road to paint a beautifully old dilapidated barn.

Attendees: Barbara Muratore, Gail Kellogg, Claudine Bartlett, Eleanor
Milborrow, Nina Rupp, Diane Lochocki, Kathy Bolin, Barbara Doyle, Terry
Brooks, Barbara Jablonski, and HOST Anne Jurgens.
